one last photo before we went into the dunno where! lol.. a bit blur la, thanks to zhiyongs shaky hands.. haha
my airticket! woohoo.. this is right after we have checked in our luggage.
isabella showing us the many shops in the dunno what area.. junes inside buying some gastric med..
something like a viewing hall.. some shops and restaurants with a view of the airplanes coming in and going out
isabella and june getting a sinful subway snack
halfway there.. super boring flight. didnt really fancy the entertainment system onboard, also known as kris-something.
early sunrise.. this is a great altitude to see a sunrise.. no distortions in the atmosphere..
the real sunrise.. freaking glaring sun.. hurts the eye
just leaving beijing airport.. note the landscape
tailing behind dr zhaos vehicle.. he had to drive the vehicle to park somewhere before getting up onto the bus with us
i cant remember what you call this, the place for you to pay when you drive thru a certain area..
a very modern building in the middle of a developing city.. all sharp corners
the nation reminding their citizens about the 2008 beijing summer olympics.. do the country proud!!
look.. a patriotic movie about world war II.. you should watch it man.. the japs can fire MGs at them and none of them ever got hit. in the end, all the japs died because they were all killed by a few pistols.
just arrived at yi he yuan.. also known as the summer palace..
another shot of the area we landed in..
other tourists walking by..
our group waiting for dr zhao to alias with a tour guide.. i think.
the entrance to yi he yuan.. grand place eh
oops.. wrong order of pics.. this was before the above picture.. im sorry, no time to change the order.. its 5pm!
updated!
yi he yuan..
feng shui rock.. supposed to block the bad from coming in by the main door of yi he yuan.. at the same time trappin the good inside it.. something like that la..
qi ling..
roof designs..
made in the year of dunno what.. read it from right to left.. lol
very beautiful trees.. look at the branches
entrance to a 700m long sheltered pathway, with over a thousand different drawings on each column.
tada..
ceiling of the roof.. i wonder how much time they took to finish this.
the lake beside yi he yuan. cant remember the name of it, but the tour guide said it was actually more like a pond in the past.. the ancient people dug out the mud and whatever from the lakebed and then piled them onto the hill behind this pic..
hmm.
here is isabella in her very rare innocent look. hehheh..
a group picture without the two weihongs!
the marble boat or sth like that.. very beautiful to look at.
climbin up the 60m hill. a lot of us complaining. i actually perspired..
this little field of rocks look great for trials man.. too bad this is some historic area.. if not, i bet some people will ride these..
a beautiful view of the immediate area around yi he yuan.. the temples look great too
the stairs was super steep.. almost three stories high yet only extending less than 10m horizontally.. crazy. if roll down confirm break bones..
hehheh... took this pic of a silhouette of the temple..
this is right after the walk down.. this wall is huge.
basically we ended our half day beijing trip here. its still pretty early, prbably about 12 noon. we went lunch.. the food was really (preserved/pickled/salty/"brined").
they actually use cards to buy food in the foodcourt. pretty high tech eh..
alright. lessons gonna start soon. cya!

Good morning all!!!
im right now in handan college's guests' hostel giving ya the first report of the handan OITP trip.
to start out..
i, myself personally reached changi airport terminal 2 at 830pm sharp on saturday. actually, i was a bit too early as the meeting time was scheduled at 1030pm, but alfred, lx, wq, zhiyong and zai came over to see us off. had a whopper meal and then isabella reached.. her mum and two sisters had tagged along to send her off too. june also reached soon after.. and we all gathered at counter no.6.
after lots of chatting and phototaking, we met the chan brothers representative and had our attendance taken. we had our bags checked in and got our boarding tickets..blahblah.. the usual.
haha.. had some slacking time with isabella and june in the.. dunno what area. took some pics and walked about..
-----------------------
i have never travelled much at all and this was the second time i had ever departed singapore in a commercial jet.. since were all DASE students.. im pretty much amazed when the aircraft taxied and took off. there was nothing much to see since it was a night flight.. zzz.
surprisingly, the "wide-bodied" 777 doesnt seem to have much walking space. understandable, but a little bit untolerable. 6 hours sitting down really makes you feel drained.. luckily we had to change into thermal wear and etc before we reach beijing airport. some exercise makes a lot of difference. btw, we took a few pictures from the window..
after the aircraft had landed and were cleared to exit the aircraft, i have for the first time felt the air temperature in beijing by the chilling air in the aerobridge. i had thought it to be pretty bad at 2 degrees celsius, but no, it just felt like opening a chiller in front of your face.
without any hindrance, we cleared the customs and stepped out. Dr Zhao led the way to the little bus they have chartered for our trip to summer palace and handan.. as soon as the sliding glass door opened, i felt the super chilly wind gush right in my face. many others are pretty surprised with the weather there.. fortunately i have no problem adapting to it.
------------------------
summer palace was amazing. the scenery there was almost story-like, depicted in those chinese tales. we kept snapping photographs of the summer palace.. my hands seized up just less than five minutes after getting off the bus. it felt like somebody elses hand and i couldnt feel if i have pressed a button firmly or not. but who cares.. i managed to get some nice pics of the place.
all of us headed to the toilet and finally we got split up for the first time. Dr Zhao and qingqing~ had disappeared from us and in the end, i had to call Dr Zhao from my phone. it was a short call anyway.. prolly less than 2 minutes. hope it doesnt cost too much on my roaming..
a lof of stuff to talk about.. however if i put it in pictures.. it will be much easier.
--------------------------
we went to beijings largest shopping centre for lunch. to be direct, the food there was either too salty, too bland or sickening. i think we still couldnt adapt to their foods yet.. a lot of us had whined about after lunch.
-------------------------
from there on, it was the perilous six hour bus journey from beijing to handan college. poor isabella had to suffer from some kind of heat bubble around her.. she had to open the windows to ventilate a bit. but too bad.. the person beside her would sneeze if she wanted to.
the scenery along the road looked pretty much like a "wasteland cum country" view. no lights at night along the highway, only reflectors illuminated by the vehicles' headlights and foglights. i saw a lot more trucks hauling equipment than private vehicles.
im a bit lazy to talk much la.. so im gonna put some photos up with captions to do the explainin.
did it work out?;

Eh.. our class photo. LOL.. not 100% of the class is here.. but anyway, maybe this might exactly be our class soon.. gulp.
oh dear.. we spent a lot of time to buy shit.. or more like ME spending a lot of time to buy stuff for our trip. oh did i mention that on my blog? no.. and yes, im going to china, handan for some overseas industrial attachment for one and a half months. im leaving on the 25th morning, 120 am at terminal 2, blah blah. see attached for more details:
which means i will be back by the 14th of april.
so far, ive gotten a navy blue cap, a bright green multi-function scarf, sweater, long johns. miscellaneous stuff include a battery charger, specifically GP 2700 mAh for my dear camera..
im pretty excited.. cant wait to depart singapore. the last time i have gone for any overseas trip was in secondary one, a pretty lame trip to penang, malaysia. it was a 4 day 3 night trip, seriously pale in contrast to this one. plus, its dam cold there, i bet it would be pretty fun to see myself freaking weak and sick there.
i have pretty much bothered sista june and isabella to help me with my stuff.. thanks to ya all girls.. give ya a hug. now im pretty much pleased with my progress. oh no.. ive yet to get my luggage yet. prolly gonna borrow it from my aunty.
im bringing my meow there as storage for my photos and as a source of entertainment. needa install lots of games inside man.. internet isnt available at the hostel.
im gonna look pretty contrasting there.. with a green scarf. but who cares..
ah yikes.. just remembered i have to bring the tripod for my camera. nooooooooo...
seems like im gonna take a break for now.. its 2am. night all..
